About the home

Situated in Miami’s historic Collin’s Waterfront district, the site is located between Pine TreeDrive and Indian Creek Canal. In response to this, the design is conceived of as a self contained, multi-layered landscape of experiences which takes advantage of both Miami’s tropical climate as well the site’s sought-after views over the canal toward the Atlantic Ocean and the world-renowned Miami Beach. The design capitalizes on the nature of the site by establishing strong lateral boundaries which offer privacy from the public realm as well as direct living spaces inwards, centered on a generous atrium space surrounded by inter-connected platforms and surfaces.

Privacy is further emphasized through the inclusion of operable, perforated screens which also offer shading from the sun as desired. Internal screens offer additional privacy between zones and spaces within the house. Natural lighting plays a strong role in informing the design, with glazed openings to the side of the house flooding the interiors with natural light. The entertainment and swimming pool terrace is also designed to take full advantage of the Western sun, late into the afternoon, maximizing the time that can be spent in the pool or socializing at the cabana. The interior space is a serene, harmonious environment of continuous, fluid finishes to surfaces, creating a sense of respite from the pace of life in the city. On the ground level, the house boasts generous living accommodation as well as two en-suite guest bedrooms. The internal living spaces open onto the entertainment terrace and swimming pool, blurring the boundary between exterior and interior and creating a sense of flow between the house and the water. The outdoor entertainment space is screened from the creek by a waterfront cabana, featuring a hot-tub and barbecue terrace, ensuring privacy from passing boats at all times. The upper level of the house features more intimate and private spaces for the family, including four en-suite bedrooms and a large family room, all surrounding the atrium. On the street side of the site, a large multi-purpose space, which can act as a half basketball court, art gallery, work space or gym, sits between the main house and Pine Tree Drive.

This structure has allowed the design to eliminate the need for a front boundary wall and controls access to the property while maintaining a softness to the street edge. The confident, bold and minimal design, in combination with a well-considered approach to the local context, make Pine Tree South the ideal home from which to enjoy a contemporary Miami lifestyle. The finishes are high end and commensurate with the design level of the home. For more information or sales inquiries please call (305) 438-1188.
